New Health Officer Orientation
One INSACCHO goal is to create materials to assist new health officers with their duties and responsibilities. A survey was conducted among newer health officers to determine what information would have been most beneficial to them as they assumed direction of their local health department. When completed, the training materials will be available to any interested member.
Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Education Units
Services provided by a local health department are under the direction of a physician appointed by the Local Board of Health. The services are provided by those employed at the health department: administrators/office managers; nurses; environmentalists; vital records clerks; health educators; IT personnel, emergency preparedness coordinators, etc. SACCHO training seminars are open to all and serve to complement the spring and fall trainings provided by the Indiana State Department of Health. Physicians are awarded Continuing Medical Education credits commensurate with their attendance, and health department staff receive Continuing Education Unit certificates. Programs are designed based on suggestions by SACCHO members, and experts in each particular topic are invited to make presentations.
Notices of INSACCHO facilitated training as well as other training opportunities are sent to health officers and staff across the state as they arise.
